Tic Bowen Heals Walls With Black Line Therapy

Almost daily illustrations posted on Instagram by Tic Bowen.

Tic started drawing these black and white illustrations in 2021 as a way to heal from an ongoing illness. Each day displays the main fictional characters in his head engaging in some kind of fun activity: Swimmers waiting on a dock for boats to arrive. Men offering an ironic forbidden fruit to the serpent himself. Muppets pulling the strings of the masses.

Mel is now using black_line_therapy to illustrate her online novel @Wattpad, which we won’t link to here because this page is about Tic, not Mel, however, she wants to plug her idea here for you:

  • Imagine seeing these illustrations on buildings in Orlando?
  • Or accenting a wall of a cookie cutter home in dire need of a little extra customization?
Mel imagines seeing Tic’s art on walls throughout Orlando.

The folks at City Arts have featured Tic’s art on billboards around the city, as well as group shows downtown. Since the days of blogger, Tic has dabbled in all kinds of creative projects from drawing, stop-motion animations, playing music with Belle, cycling, renovating a doublewide with Mel, planting sugarcane, navigating trails, and building rustic furniture and clocks. He’s good at everything, but he’s not egotistical about it, so he’s just an all-around fun person to collaborate with on any project.
